In this Westlake remodel, the client loves all things Art Deco and all things glitzy and high glamour. Together we married the two. We had to completely gut her home and start from scratch. Almost everything in this house became custom. The focal point of her living room – the fireplace, became a beautiful feature of the home. The fireplace mantel was custom designed and built out of burl wood. The fireplace surround was mother of pearl mosaic tile. The mirror above the fireplace was all custom designed and made from real silver leaf. The entire chandelier in the living room was made out of thin silver jewelry chains. The sofa was custom designed and made specifically for the client. The floor was poured terrazzo. We custom picked the colors of the granules and included little bits of mother of pearl to pull in the fireplace
. The star in the entrance was a replica of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, (done by the same company that do them in Hollywood). The pictures in the stairway were all original photographs that my client’s father had taken back in the 40′s and 50′s. He was a professional photographer for Hollywood’s rich and famous. The chandeliers and lights in the entry, stairway, dining room and powder room were all made out of crystals. We used wallpaper in three different areas of the house. The main living room wall was a large damask print in a tone on tone. The ceiling in the dining room was a wallpaper that had a three dimensional bubble effect in a champagne color. The powder room wallpaper was a little more of a geometric print, also done in a champagne color. The vanity in the powder room was a piece of furniture that we reworked to make into a sink vanity. All in all, it was a very extensive remodel that took almost a year to do, but the client had saved years to make it exactly the way she wanted and is very happy with the end result!
